We. Are. Here.

"Our Eyes See the Sun" is an inspiring documentary that not only illuminates the shared experiences connecting the diverse population of Northeast Ohio but also significantly contributes to the growth and vibrancy of our local arts scene. This project aims to foster unity among residents and deepen appreciation for the city's cultural richness.

The Akron Black Artist Guild (ABAG) has received invaluable investment from the Knight Foundation and the America 250-OH Commission. But our success is not just about funding. It's about the community.

On October 11th at 4:15 PM, the premiere of Our Eyes See the Sun, accompanied by a community talkback, will take place at NightLight Cinema, an independent theater dedicated to providing accessible, high-quality cinema.

ABAG's overarching goal is to weave our featured work into the rich fabric of the arts and culture community in Summit County and greater Northeast Ohio, fostering a more inclusive and diverse cultural landscape. We strive to elevate the roles of Black writers, directors, producers, camera operators, and editors in the film industry. Our focus is on providing intergenerational perspectives that illuminate the common threads binding Akron's diverse population.
