It’s just 200 years!

Celebrating our Bicentennial as Akronites is a significant occasion that invites us to come together in reflection on Akron's remarkable journey over the past 200 years. Our city exemplifies resilience and strength as we navigate the dynamic challenges facing our economy and society.
In reflecting on the founding of the Akron Black Artist Guild four years ago, it is clear that the support from our community has been instrumental to our success. This October, we are pleased to gather again for the Outlined in Black Art Exhibition and the premiere of the film "Our Eyes See the Sun," two events that carry even greater significance during Akron's Bicentennial year. Together, we are fostering inclusive spaces that uplift one another and explore innovative ways to support our community.
As we commemorate this significant year, let us honor the legacies of those who came before us and take on our roles as innovators and creators. The future holds promising opportunities, and it is our collective responsibility to shape it. I look forward to working with each of you as we collaborate to build a brighter future for our community.
