ABAG Investing in a Cultural Anchor in the Westside Neighborhood

What if one building could help artists create, neighbors connect, young people discover their talents, and an entire community experience Akron’s creative energy in a new way? That’s the vision behind the Akron Black Artist Guild’s Copley Road Creative Hub.

We’re inviting Akron to help make it happen. For years, the Akron Black Artist Guild has created opportunities for artists to exhibit, learn, connect, and evolve.

From Outlined in Black to Creative Exchange, ABAG has built community through artist workshops, literary programming, public art, and partnerships.

Now, it’s time to build a home for that work.

The Copley Road Creative Hub will be a vibrant creative destination in Akron’s Copley Road corridor, where art and community come together every day.

Envision yourself in our neighborhood experiencing exhibitions and galleries featuring local artists, artist-led workshops for new creative skills, professional development for artists and creative entrepreneurs, digital media and podcasting that amplify local voices, community gatherings and collaborations, creative opportunities for young people and emerging artists, and spaces that connect creativity, entrepreneurship, and economic opportunity. This isn't just about having a place to display art. It's about creating a place where creativity can thrive right in our neighborhoods.

Every neighborhood has a story. The Creative Hub is part of a vision for a West Akron where residents don't have to travel across town to experience meaningful arts programming, discover local artists, learn a creative skill, or connect with creative opportunities.
